Itinerary!

So, I just got my tentative intinerary. It's soo exciting because now I can count exactly how many days/hours/minutes/seconds I have until I leave. Yes, I'm such a nerd. :) But for those of you interested here it is:

August 17
Leave Dayton: 1:27p.m.
Arrive Philadelphia: 3:00p.m.
August 17-18
Leave Philadelphia: 8:25p.m.
Arrive Frankfurt: 10:20a.m.
August 18
Leave Frankfurt: 12:00p.m.
Arrive Berlin: 1:05p.m.

I'll be traveling almost 24 hours (well, and then you have to subtract the time differences.) And the five hour layover in Philadelphia is crazy and will probably end up seeming like the longest five hours of my life, but it's okay with me. As long as I end up somewhere in Germany...:) It's all so definite now, like it's really going to happen. And we went shopping for a few things I need to take with me yesterday and I've gotten my German-English dictionaries. It's all starting to come together. August 17th cant get here fast enough! :)

Updates!

Okay. Lots to say. For starters, I HAVE MY GUARANTEE FORMS! (: It's really exciting, well at least it was for me. I got an email while I was on vacation from my country contact with the forms attatched and then when I got home a real copy of them was sitting in my mailbox waiting for me. And I think I sat there and stared at them for like ever. I was amazed by the handwriting. It sounds funny, but really it looks completely...foreign, which is awesome. (:
I've been keeping in touch with my host sister. She's totally awesome. I just know we're going to have a great time together. I've also been contacted by one of my Rotarians in Germany and her daughter who just got back from her exchange in America as well. It seems like everybody is really excited to me to get there, and I am insanely excited to get there as well. I have a feeling next year will be a good year.
This past weekend was our Ohio-Erie orientation. A whole weekend with exchangers, pretty awesome. It was pretty fun, but it definately had it's boring times. But it was just really great to talk about exchange all weekend and meet a whole bunch of people going through the same things I am and who are just as excited as me. And it's totally crazy, but some of them are leaving next week for their exchanges! I cant believe it's all coming so soon! I've been waiting for these days for way too many months. And there finally here. My last days in America. Only 32 of them left. Which reminds me. My travel agent emailed me. I'll most likely be leaving on August 17th. So I have just over 4 weeks left in this country. It's crazy to think about. This time next month I'll be in Germany! Totally exciting!
My next post will probably be when I get my travel itinerary, which should be about mid-July, so possibly next week.

I Have a Family!

AHH! I finally know who my first host family is and where I'll be living next year! I got an email from my host sister yesterday. Her name is Jule and she lives in a town called Königs Wusterhausen, specifically in a part of the town called Neue Mühle. She said it was about an hour away from Berlin. Pretty awesome! My host dad is named Olaf and he's a director. Jule told me he works at like sporting events and it's his job to find the best setting for a picture. And my host mom's name is Gerlind. She's a nurse. Jule seems really cool and talking to her makes me even more excited to leave in August. Which reminds me, I figured out when I'm going to leave! Sometime between August 14th and August 17th. Only 114ish days...:)

Oh, and for those of you who want to see a map of exactly where Königs Wusterhausen is, here you go. :) It's right about there, where the arrow is. That's where I'm going to be living next year. I can't even describe how excited I'm am. It's unreal.
Well that's all for now.

Hallo!

I'm Kaite. I'm 15 and I'm going to Germany next year on exchange. It's actually pretty crazy to think about. Foreign exchange has always seemed like a crazy dream to me. Something I've always thought would be absolutely awesome to do, but something that would never ever happen to me. But it is. This time next year I'll be somewhere in Germany, speaking a different language, living with a different family, doing different things. Everything aspect of my life will be completely different. But I'm so excited and so ready.

Right now, I want to know exactly where I'm going so bad. Like it has completely consumed my thoughts. It's ALL I think about. 24/7, Germany, Germany, Germany. I check my email like 15 times a day. No joke. It's insane. And people always ask me, "Oh where in Germany are you going?" And I always have to say that I don't know. Very frustrating. But what I do know is that I'm going to district 1940, in northeast Germany.

And sadly, this information is just not enough for me. Well, not anymore. When I first found out it was great. I was sooo happy. But now I want to know more. Sheesh, exchange is really making me impatient. :)

Bis später!
